Cardinal Ball 2014

This year’s annual Cardinal Ball took place on February 22, 2014 at Imiloa Astronomy Center. The Cardinal Ball is an extremely important event for St. Joseph School, being a yearly fundraiser for tuition assistance scholarships and other funds needed for the student body. Organized and put on by co-chairs Kristi and Hank Correa, Cardinal Ball relies on donations from the community as well as the alumni and friends of the school. Profit comes not only from the tables being sold – this year saw 6 tables with 10 seats each – but also from the auction that goes on during the later evening at the event. Two types of auctions, the silent auction and the live auction, help to raise money as event goers place their bids. Students from the school also had a hand in the event, assisting with the set up as well as the actual event. A group of students ushered in guests and carried the auction items for the guests to view as they placed their bids. Attendees also enjoy food and drink throughout the evening, as well as the good company of the others there. According to the counts made, more than sufficient funds were raised by the end of the night thanks to the tables purchased and the auction items that were bid on. All in all, a great success for the 2014 St. Joseph Cardinal Ball.  - written by Jayla Nakayama, Senior
